Ahola Respite Care at Have A Heart

"Aloha" to a day of tropical fun at Have A Heart's Hawaiian-themed respite care!

On Saturday, April 13 and 20, clients of Have A Heart’s Respite Care Program, enjoyed time with their peers with games, art, projects, and more. When the clients are hanging with their new friends, their caregivers are given a break from their caregiving role to preserve their overall well-being by preventing caregiver burnout and feelings of exhaustion and isolation due to the chronic stresses of caregiving.

The Have A Heart Respite Care Program offers adults with physical and developmental disabilities a chance to enjoy time with peers a couple of monthly Saturdays.

On one of these special respite days, clients experienced the relaxed vibes of Hawaii right River Falls, Wisconsin. During this themed day, a seashell beach painting art project was created by each person with watercolor paints and real seashells, creating their take-home Hawaiian paradise art scene.

Hawaiian decorations and drinks like fruit punches added to the tropical atmosphere.

The beach ball parachute game was a favorite activity, as clients worked together to keep the beach ball bouncing on a big parachute, leading to lots of smiles and teamwork.

After the art and games, it was time to relax and watch an animated Hawaiian movie with snacks. This is a perfect way to wind down and enjoy a story filled with adventure and laughter.

At Have A Heart, our respite care days bring joy to our clients. For more information on our Respite Care Program for adults with physical and developmental disabilities, contact us.
